Position Summary	The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering, Industrial Systems & Technology at Jackson State University is seeking applications for a full-time tenure track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level for Fall 2023 in the area of WATER RESOURCES ENGINEERING.The University is a state supported institution, and is located in the capital city of Mississippi, which is the major metropolitan area of the state. The university with a Carnegie designation of “Doctoral University -High Research Activity” has a diverse student body, and approximately 95 comprehensive degree programs from the baccalaureate through the doctorate are delivered. Candidates for the position are expected to be responsive and committed to a diverse student body, and collaborate with their colleagues.

Qualifications

Minimum Required Education	A Ph.D. in Civil/Environmental Engineering or a closely related discipline is required.

Minimum Required Licenses and/or Certifications	A professional engineering (P.E.) license is highly desirable.
Qualifications	Desired qualifications include potential for the development of very active externally funded research programs, high quality journal publications, and industrial experience.
Skills and Abilities	A strong commitment to the development of a very active externally funded research program, and publications in high quality refereed engineering journals are required.
Job Duties and Responsibilities	Teach water resources, and other civil , general engineering and related courses, as assigned by the Department Chair.Conduct independent research.Obtain significant external funding, and publish actively in top referred engineering journals.Advise graduate (MS and Ph.D.) students.Initiate and participate in collaborative research both internally and externally.Participate in meaningful service activities, including university, community, and professional service.Participate in the assessment, ABET accreditation process, recruitment, curriculum development, and other service activities as assigned by the Department Chair.Candidates for the position are expected to be responsive and committed to a diverse student body and collaborate with their colleagues.
