Coastal Carolina University is accepting applications for a full-time Volunteer Monitoring Coordinator for the Waccamaw Watershed Academy’s (WWA) Volunteer Water Quality Monitoring Program. Since its founding in 2004, the WWA has delivered watershed and water sciences education, research, and outreach services to the local region. The Volunteer Monitoring Coordinator will work with WWA staff, graduate and undergraduate students, and community partners to deliver high-quality monitoring data to local stormwater managers. Additionally, the coordinator will help develop outreach and education materials that promote community science projects in the Waccamaw and Coastal Watersheds of Northeastern South Carolina.

Duties Include, but are not limited to:
· Coordinates volunteer monitoring program through regular communications with volunteers and community partners.
· Trains volunteer and student interns in proper sampling and analysis procedures to maintain compliance with program QAPP.
· Delivers volunteer recruitment, retention, and engagement activities following volunteer administration best practices.
· Conducts technical troubleshooting of equipment and methods.
· Assists with field and laboratory analyses of environmental samples for other projects in the Waccamaw Watershed Academy and Environmental Quality Lab.
· Assists with updates of volunteer monitoring Quality Assurance Project Plans, SOPs and datasheets.
· Assists with education and outreach efforts including written material for monthly newsletter, website content, and other reports as needed.
· Assists with the preparation of data reports, including data entry, report generation, and other record-keeping activities associated with QA/QC procedures.

Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in Science and two (2) years of related job experience or equivalent is required.

Research Specialist I (ED55/ NS01044P), full-time research grant position with benefits. Salary Range: $40,000.00 to $42,000.00. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Normal work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the projects.
