Basic Function:The Department of Biological Sciences at Kent State University seeks a post-doctoral research associate to join a US EPA funded Great Lakes Restoration Initiative project evaluating the effectiveness of restored wetlands on water quality improvement. The successful candidate will use existing data to estimate nutrient budgets for diverse wetland restoration projects throughout the state of Ohio. The candidate will join a dynamic, supportive research group with opportunities for collaboration across disciplines and engagement with state policy makers, stakeholders, and public audiences. Examples of Duties:  Examples of duties include:Lead and support development of scientific manuscripts for peer review through analysis and synthesis of new and existing dataPresent research results to collaborators and at professional conferences.Lead and contribute to extramural grant proposalsCoordinate field, lab, and data synthesis research relevant to the candidate’s research focus and objectivesSupport mentorship of junior lab personnel (undergraduate and graduate students)In consultation with primary supervisor(s), develop an Individual Development Plan (IDP), which may include additional project-supported activities like mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate students, professional development workshops, and/or stakeholder engagement and communication, in alignment with the postdoctoral associate’s career goals.
Additional Examples of Duties – if applicable: 
Minimum Qualifications:A PhD in Ecology, Environmental Sciences, Data Science, Statistics or a related field (or other related terminal degree, for example: MLIS in data science). Strong history of collaborative scientific work. Supervision experience. Experience with the creation of scientific products. Strong aptitude for programming (R and/or Python).

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:Light work-Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.
