  • Salary ranges from $95,136 to $119,479 + super

The Water Group leads the NSW Government in providing confidence to communities and stakeholders with the transparent stewardship of water resources, provision of services and reforms that support sustainable and healthy environments, economies and societies across NSW.

About You

This is a sought-after opportunity to be part of professionals in charge of allocating water in NSW. In this role, you will undertake hydrologic assessments of water available for sustainable allocation to water access licence holders. You will get exciting prospect to communicate your assessments through water allocation statements on the departmental website.  Your statements will be translating complex water resource management issues along with hydrologic concepts into simplified language for public.

You will provide expert insight into water planning, drought management and water security to various stakeholders including other government agencies, consultants, and water users. This will require knowledge in the areas of hydrology, statistics, water resource management and relevant government policies and plans.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree level qualifications in Civil Engineering, Water Resources, Environmental Science, or a related discipline covering the subject hydrology.
  • Some years of experience working in one or more of the following disciplines: engineering hydrology, water resource management, environmental science, storage yield, stochastic hydrology.
  • Some experience in effectively communicating complex technical concepts in plain English to one or more stakeholders: executives, professional from other disciplines and or to general public.
