We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Healthy Waters Specialist to join the Catchment Planning team. In this pivotal role, you will lead and drive the implementation of cutting-edge stormwater solutions, while ensuring industry best practices and high-quality project delivery. Your expertise and integrity will be crucial in successfully managing complex stormwater infrastructure projects.
Health and safety, as well as financial management, are integral aspects of our work. As the Senior Healthy Waters Specialist, you will be expected to prioritize these areas and champion innovation throughout the organization. Building strong relationships with stakeholders will be essential, as we strive for excellence and customer-centric outcomes.
Day-to-day you could expect to work on:
- Take a lead role on high-risk procurements, including advising on key attribute and acting on the tender evaluation panels
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders in the three waters industry including wider teams in Infrastructure & Environmental Service, Community Facilities, Auckland Transport and Watercare, wider stakeholders such as Auckland System Management and Kiwirail, as well as developers and other infrastructure providers
- Champion and lead People Leadership while not being a direct people leader within the department including modelling the Charter and Our Behaviours to help lead Healthy Waters, including promoting a friendly, cooperative environment, while respecting and valuing other’s contributions

We’re looking for specialists and senior specialists with previous experience in stormwater management and relevant experience in three waters infrastructure sector or equivalent.
We will be looking for specific experience with:
Qualifications and Experience – Essential:
- 10+ years experience in three waters infrastructure sector or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years in stormwater catchment planning or specialist area
- A bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science
- Membership of a relevant professional body or working towards full membership of a relevant professional body
- Project management qualifications or equivalent experience
- Contract management and administration
- Business case and benefit identification experience
