Context

Jal Seva Charitable Foundation (JSCF) is registered in India as a not for profit company under Chapter8 of the Companies Act, 2013. JSCF, is an associate member of WaterAid International and uses thebrand name ‘WaterAid’ in India.WaterAid India seeks to improve access to clean water, decenttoilets andgoodhygienefor everyone,everywhere.

WaterAid India’s (WAI) country office is based in New Delhi with State Offices in Bhopal, Raipur,Bhubaneswar, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Patna and Lucknow. We currently work in 11+ states acrossthe country.

WAI’s Programme focus in the next five years is on ensuring that communities – especially low-income families – are WASH secure i.e. with assured access to safe drinking water at the householdlevel; with safely managed sanitation’ institutions such as anganwadi’s, schools and health carefacilities with adequate and appropriate WASH infrastructure and with good hygiene behaviours.We seek to do this through demonstration and the provision of technical and knowledge support togovernmentsatall levelswhocanfacilitatethis adoptiononscale.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee all trainings /hygiene promotion /campaigns as required in the project.
  • Provide guidance and supervise field team which includes periodic visits to the field.
  • Take lead in organizing trainings/hygiene sessions/campaign as required in the project.
  • Coordinate with field team and ensure all deliverables of the project are met effectively within the desired timeline and with excellent quality.
  • Establish and maintain excellent working relations with the concerned government departments-especially Health, Education and Women & Child development.
  • Ensure effective reporting and documentation of the work being implemented in consultation with the City Coordinator.
  • Support in completion of baseline and end line.
  • Update the record of activities in monthly Management Information System (MIS) of the organization.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the City Coordinator.

Eligibilities and requirements

Education

  • Graduation or Post-graduation (or equivalent) qualification in one of the following areas: social sciences, international development, economics, water/natural resource management, environment, additional qualification in water, sanitation, hygiene education will be an added advantage

Experience

  • Between 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience in community lever work in Development
  • sector.
  • Experience of working on urban context on the themes of Water, sanitation and Wash in Institutions will be an added advantage

Other specifications

  • Experience of managing field teams
  • Knowledge of MS office is essential.
  • Experience in coordinating with local administration
  • Sound understanding of issues pertaining to WASH in institutions-schools, anganwadis and health care facilities in Karnataka
  • Exceptional communications and presentation skills, both written and oral in Kannada and English is essential.
  • A self-starter, able to work independently
  • Ability to travel in the field extensively
