WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER

The Freshwater Project Manager identifies, designs, plans, manages, and implements projects that advance the strategies of The Nature Conservancy’s Connecticut Chapter to restore aquatic ecosystem health, resilience, and connectivity, enhance community resilience to climate change, and prioritize equity and justice. They cultivate strong, collaborative relationships with federal, state, and local government, non-profit, and local community partners to identify and develop projects that advance freshwater ecosystem conservation and local community resilience, with a strong emphasis on integrating TNC’s values of equity and justice into the Chapter’s conservation portfolio.

Duties include securing funding, writing grant applications, and managing budgets, requests for proposals, contracts, and grants to support project implementation.  Project types include but are not limited to dam removal, culvert replacement, and restoration of instream, riparian, and floodplain habitats. The Freshwater Project Manager identifies and promotes project needs to partners and funding agencies and works closely with Chapter conservation and external affairs staff to demonstrate effective restoration strategies and methods, and to facilitate and promote local planning, policy, and financing frameworks that advance equitable, nature-based solutions. They may work in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain, and under physically demanding circumstances. This is a four-year term position with the possibility to extend contingent on performance and available funding. This position in based out of the New Haven, CT office with a hybrid schedule.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

•  BA/BS degree and 5 years’ experience in natural resource management or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•  Experience in designing, managing, and implementing freshwater restoration projects, and independently completing tasks in adherence to project timelines
•  Experience building and maintaining collaborative partnerships
•  Experience using applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Web Browsers 
•  Valid driver’s license
