Project Description:

The Energy and Environment Programme is one of the main areas of focus in UNDP Lebanon; currently implements numerous projects in Lebanon that range in thematic areas from climate change, biodiversity conservation, institutional support, industrial depollution, decentralized renewable energy projects and solid waste management. The programme also works on the support of host-communities in response to the Syrian refugee crisis and is the Social and Environmental Safeguards focal point for the office; therefore, the team also ensures the integration of environmental best-practices into the overall implementation strategy of UNDP.

Following the Syrian Crisis, the majority of refugees are being hosted in communities that are among the poorest in the country, including the North of Lebanon and the Bekaa. These communities suffer from poor water services due to lack of adequate infrastructure and have limited means to expand local infrastructure.

As such under the umbrella of the support to the host-communities programme of UNDP and in coordination with the Ministry of Energy and Water, UNDP is implementing several projects on water (domestic water supply and irrigation canal construction) as well as waste water across Lebanon. It is also working on several Syria-crisis response related projects in other sectors such as solid waste and renewable energy applications.

Accordingly, UNDP Energy and Environment Programme is seeking to recruit a Project Coordinator Associate to support the project team and the programme on all internal UNDP processes and in liaising between the project and programme on operational, administrative, communication, reporting activities.

Scope of Work:

  • Assist the Programme Manager and Project Manager in day-to-day coordination, management and oversight of projects activities;
  • Assist in consolidating and supporting on M&E activities;
  • Assist in the preparation of progress reports;
  • Support on following up on procurement cases, HR issues, communication issues and other activities between the projects and the programme teams;
  • Support on workshop and meeting preparations, including note taking and dissemination of minutes and any related work;
  • Assist in concept note preparation for new phases of funding, particularly on budget preparation
  • Assist in the follow-up of contracts, including milestone deadlines, and follow-up on needed extensions and follow-up;
  • Maintaining Project and Programme info for timely reporting as required by the Country Office
  • Support in the design and implementation of the Programme filing system;
  • Support in the management of assets and inventories (reporting, transfers), and fleet management.

Institutional Arrangement:

The Project Coordinator Associate will be working under the overall guidance of the Project Manager and the Programme Manager. The Project Coordinator Associate will be located at UNDP Country Office and should be willing to commute regularly to various meetings in ministries and on-site.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Completion of Secondary Education is required; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Business Management, Accounting or other related fields.

Experience:
Minimum 6 years with secondary education or 3 years with a Bachelor’s degree or progressive relevant experience in administrative, financial and/or operational support
