Just a Drop is an international development charity working to bring safe water, sanitation and hygiene education to communities in need, transforming lives. Our safe water projects have benefitted over 1.9 million people across 32 countries since we began in 1998.

We’re looking for a confident, positive self-starter motivated to take the initiative across a varied and interesting workload. Working in a highly committed and professional team, the Communications Officer will manage and develop our communications to support income generation, taking the organisation forward.

The role is important and valued, with the opportunity to make a huge impact on our development. It’s a great opportunity for someone at an early point of their career, to make a real difference at a positive organisation making a real difference to people’s lives.

The role is hybrid, with three days home working and two in our office in Richmond, London. There are likely to be opportunities to travel to our projects work.

Job Description

  • Develop our Welcome Programme and donor development, with a particular focus on communications for regular giving, driving income generation
  • In line with our strategy, produce relevant social media content, including LinkedIn content
  • Provide support for Just a Drop fundraising campaigns
  • Provide support for website improvements and Google Ads
  • Produce and edit Just a Drop filmed content, for audiences and funding partners
  • Develop communications around our sustainability offer
  • Produce reports: for our funding partners; and to show our quarterly and annual impact, liaising across the team
  • Produce a monthly communication based on an ongoing project that can be used to update donors who support our overall work
  • Any other duties relevant to the role

Person Specification

Skills and abilities:

  • At least one year’s experience of a communications role
  • Experience of short film creation and editing
  • Excellent and proven writing skills
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Ability to liaise with a wide variety of stakeholders, with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ideally, experience of using Canva

Personal attributes:

  • An ability to use initiative, a self-starter, with a can do attitude and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to self-manage a varied workload
