DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position performs a variety of professional duties within the Bureau of Watershed Restoration and Nonpoint Source Management. The employee’s duties will involve developing and promoting the watershed approach as a coordinated framework for environmental management within DEP, Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Department of Agriculture and other Commonwealth agencies, and the communities within the Commonwealth. Duties will center on empowering watershed organizations, citizen groups, landowners, local governments, and conservation districts to address environmental concerns on a watershed basis. Work is assigned in the form of program objectives and will require the employee to exercise extraordinary initiative with considerable freedom allowed in planning, scheduling and completing the work.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will have the opportunity to work from home (telework), part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
 Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Five years of professional experience in environmental protection, environmental regulation or resource conservation, and a bachelor’s degree in the biological, physical or environmental sciences or in the engineering field, or in a field closely related to environmental protection or resource conservation.
  • A graduate degree in a field closely related to environmental protection or resource conservation may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

Necessary Special Requirements: 

  • Possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
