Description & Responsibilities

The Senior Associate, Water position supports the program’s efforts to leverage the power of institutional investors to drive corporate action to address the most severe and systemic risks to freshwater resources around the globe. 

Ceres is seeking a Senior Associate to support Ceres’ Valuing Water Finance Initiative through research, partnership development, and impact tracking. This position reports to the Strategic Partnerships Director. 

This role is a full-time position that may work remotely or in the Boston, MA office or San Francisco, CA office. Candidates must be flexible to work with employees in all US time zones.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Support the development of research materials to inform investor briefs, webinars, roundtables and other capacity-building approaches and tools
  • Conduct research and analysis on leading practices in corporate water stewardship, including benchmarking performance, writing briefs and memos, and creating presentations with associated speaking notes
  • Conduct research on public policy proposals relevant to the team’s work, as needed. 
  • Maintain and regularly update impact tracking tools to quantify progress towards work plan goals and grant deliverables.  Support the integration of this data into internal reports and grant reports
  • Support the Director of Strategic Partnerships in the management of existing relationships with partners including investors, companies, and NGOs  
  • Assist the Water team with training interns
  • Participate in Water team activities such as weekly team meetings
  • Coordinate across Ceres with other teams (Food and Forests, Climate and Energy, Investor Network, Company Network) to ensure alignment across activities
  • Support Ceres staff participation in virtual and in-person conferences, webinars, and events 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience, working on water-related issues, preferred 
  • Knowledge of or experience focused on water management and policy, institutional investors and financial markets, and/or corporate sustainability, required
  • Effective presentation style as well as strong speaking and written communication skills 
  • Strong quantitative and data analysis skills, including the ability to collect, sort and identify trends in large datasets
  • Demonstrate organizational, project management, and time management skills with keen attention to detail
  • Sound judgment and high level of integrity and professionalism, with an ability to manage confidential information and maintain discretion, diplomacy, and courtesy in all contacts
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), other database applications, teleconference and webinar systems and standard e-mail computer applications
  • Interest and willingness to be trained on specific Ceres’ applications necessary for success: Salesforce, Bloomberg, and others
  • Desire to work in a not-for-profit, advocacy-focused organization

  • Willingness to travel as needed

Compensation: The salary range is $58,000 to $60,000 and pairs with competitive benefits
