About This Position
Rivers to Sea is Mass Audubon’s statewide watershed education program, connecting local youth to their own watersheds, and to community members working to protect, restore, and steward local water bodies and their surrounding ecosystems to help create resilience in the face of climate change. Students spend time in the classroom, learning about marine and/or freshwater ecology, climate change and climate justice, meet scientists and/or water advocates in their communities, and go into the field to collect data, work on local projects and help with nature-based solutions to climate change.
Duties & Responsibilities
Rivers to Sea is in development now, being piloted in five communities. We are looking for an enthusiastic and organized project manager to coordinate the work of our educators in the field, and to help craft a robust program with significant community input and impact. The Project Manager will take responsibility, along with the Director of School Programs and Director of Education, for the success of this innovative new program, providing input into program design, helping motivate and direct the team, imagining new ways to reach students and create resilience, and ensuring oversight of progress.

Must Haves:
- Detail oriented and organized, able to maintain up-to-date calendars, documents, folders for the team, and notices of upcoming deadlines.
- A passion for, and understanding of best practice in, environmental education.
- Basic science and environmental literacy, including understanding of climate change, watershed ecology, or ability to transfer knowledge from a related field.
- Skilled in online and in-person facilitation of meetings; able to set realistic meeting agendas, facilitate productive discussion, use interactive tools effectively, and document progress in a shared format.
- Great communicator, in both writing and speaking/listening; able to understand the needs of a group and express ideas clearly and concisely.
- Fluency with online management tools such as Microsoft Office Suite.
- Flexibility in finding creative ways to meet the overall goals of the project, staying positive and problem solving as obstacles arise.
- Fluency in English.
Nice to Haves:
- Experience as a classroom teacher and/or environmental educator.
- Lived or professional experience working with students in majority BIPOC and/or low-income communities.
- Lived and/or professional experience working on issues of environmental justice.
- Fluency in a language other than English
- Experience working in an organization that requires communication with many different people in different roles.
- Experience developing and/or delivering professional development for educators or trainings for community members.
Compensation & Benefits
This position’s base salary range is $30 – $32 per hour; actual salary will reflect level of experience and qualifications relative to position requirements.

This is a year-round position and earns vacation time as well as receives paid holidays.
Additional Information
Work Schedule
Variable hours, usually 18 per week, on a regular schedule to be agreed upon in cooperation with supervisor, and can be set to accommodate other responsibilities. May occasionally include weekend or evening hours.
This position is scheduled to start January 9, 2023 and run through June 30, 2025.
Other Requirements:
Employees must successfully complete a CORI and SORI Background Check and a Motor Vehicle Record (if applicable) is required.

Mass Audubon requires that all staff, regardless of their work location, disclose their vaccination status. Proof of vaccination status will be required immediately upon hire. This should also include a booster shot if it has been 5 months since you were initially vaccinated.
