Salary: £42,155 to £53,353 per annum (pro-rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

We are seeking to appoint an academic to make a substantial impact within the research and teaching of Physical Geography.

The appointed individual will be based within the School of Geography, which has particular strengths in Physical Geography within:

  • Biogeography and nature based solutions
  • Earth observation and remote sensing
  • Environmental risk and hazards
  • Hydrology and water resources management
  • Past, present and future climate change
  • Sustainability

 Applications are welcome from individuals who complement these topics.

The successful candidate will be expected to generate new intellectual understanding and to apply for external funding to enable development of independent research. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to teaching at all levels within the School, including the delivery of core undergraduate modules. A range of administrative duties to support the operation of the School will also be undertaken. 

Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent in a relevant subject area or equivalent extensive professional/research experience along with teaching experience. It is essential that applicants have a track record of high-quality published research.

Candidates should supply a CV, publication list, and a covering letter stating why they are suitable for the role. Details of teaching and administrative experience and the areas of their research expertise should also be included.
