Position Overview | The work will focus on field- and greenhouse-based experiments, with an emphasis on issues of relevance to semi-arid cropping systems. Research topics include, but not limited to, plant nutrition and fertilizer management, irrigation water management, crop physiology (nutrient and water use efficiency), cropping system diversification (crop rotations, cover crops), and remote sensing and other precision sensing methodologies for sustainable crop production.The person filling this position will fulfill several essential roles in the program. He/she will help implement current research projects, including field, greenhouse, and lab work. The incumbent will work under Dr. Walsh and oversee fellow employees. |

Position Qualifications
Required Experience | Experience with written communication skills producing peer reviewed papers.Experience presenting at professional meetings.Experience summarizing and interpreting experimental data showing analytical and critical thinking skills.Experience using computer software and applications for statistical procedures, word processing, and scientific graphics programming. |

Required Education | Ph.D. in Plant Sciences, Soil Sciences or Crop Sciences. |
Required Other | Possess a valid driver’s license and be able to meet policy requirements for driving university-owned vehicles |
Additional Preferred | A strong and relevant research background and ability to pay attention to detail.Interest in (and experience with) precision agriculture tools such as sensor-based technologies, crop and soil sensors, and irrigated crop production systems. |
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions | Ability to safely drive and perform work with a truck.Ability to lift, carry and/or otherwise move objects weighing up to 50 pounds. |
