Your Key Responsibilities

Project Management :

  • Oversee and manage multiple water and wastewater projects within budget and on schedule. Promote adherence to Stantec’s Project Management Framework.
  • Serve as the Project’s point of contact with clients, agencies, and others to obtain and determine project requirements and approvals.
  • Review and conduct alternative analyses to support business case evaluations for making project decisions.
  • Take timely corrective action on any projects that encounter challenges to avoid claims and takes responsibility for mitigating any claims.
  • Promote and enhance Stantec’s professional standards and best practices and collaborate with Stantec’s HSSE team in the development of project specific hazard assessments.

Team Building :

  • Lead, participate, and collaborate in a project team setting and engage in creative and critical thought.
  • Supervise the work of other engineers, including setting the priorities for their scope of work, their budgets, and their schedules for completing the work.
  • Assign, review, and evaluate work for accuracy and completeness.
  • Lead project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owners, contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors. Interact with counterparts across the business line and other business lines.
  • Nurture diversity and inclusion within Stantec’s projects.

Business Development :

  • Develop project scope, budgets, and design approach for all size projects, and support marketing and business development professionals in positioning for potential projects, writing technical portions of proposals, participating in client interviews, and supporting negotiations for project contracts.
  • Assist and/or lead the development of proposals.
  • Engage in leadership in Professional organizations.
  • Remain current on regulatory policy and rule changes and establish working relationships with regulatory officials.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Strong project planning and delivery experience with a proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects at or under budget and on schedule.
  • Ability to lead one or more diverse teams through all phases of the project and to facilitate technical discussions when needed.
  • Familiarity with job cost reporting, and budget control activities through the life of the project, including Estimate at Completion analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate, influence and manage risk.
  • Commitment to establishing and maintaining professional standards, quality and health and safety.
  • Strong leadership, business development, communication and team building skills.
  • Effective communicator and able to work on and lead teams.
  • Understand client expectations, budgeting, proposal writing, and producing high quality deliverables.
  • Strong presentation and interview skills.

Education and Experience Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience on water and wastewater projects
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of New York or ability to obtain a NYPE within one year of starting the role
  • Experience working with New York City Department of Environmental Protection
  • Experience managing projects that are $5 Million or more

Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
