About the role
The Director, Sector Resilience and Emergency is responsible for building on strong foundations to uplift the current water sector emergency preparedness and response function to meet future challenges including increasing climate change impacts.
The position provides strategic advice and support to the Minister, Secretary and DEECA Executive to maintain effective operation of the Victorian water sector.
Working closely with water corporations, catchment management authorities, and Emergency Recovery Victoria amongst other stakeholders, the role leads the provision of high-level strategic analysis and advice on emergency response, preparedness and recovery issues associated with the water sector to the Minister, Secretary and the DEECA Executive.
The Director will also provide high-level, strategic policy oversight of Water and Catchments Group interests in the recovery planning from major incidents.
About the Group
The Water and Catchments Group (WCG) is responsible for effectively managing Victoria’s water resources to meet future urban, rural and environmental needs and works in partnership with stakeholders including water corporations and catchment management authorities.
This position is located within the Partnerships and Sector Performance Division, which is responsible for leading the Water and Catchments Group’s engagement and governance oversight of water and catchment management sector entities.
