We are looking for a Bureau Chief to join our team in the Water Quality Division leading the Water Protection Bureau. The Water Protection Bureau Chief is responsible for providing operational management, direction, budget, and resource allocation for multiple programs, funding sources, and staff. The Water Protection Bureau protects Montana’s waters through implementation of the Federal Clean Water Act. Programs permit dischargers to prevent pollution, comply with best practice, and meet EPA guidance and Montana Code. The successful candidate for this position will benefit from a background in Environmental Science, Water Policy, and the ability to work with the regulated community.

The Water Protection Bureau Chief position includes a career ladder for professional development and pay progression. This position may be eligible for occasional telework.
Minimum requirements include:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible experience.
- Education or experience in a related field preferred.
- Preferred experience in supervision, business management principles, government regulations, customer service, and communications.
- Demonstrated experience in leading people is required.
- Other combinations of education and experience may be accepted on a case-by-case basis
