We are looking for a highly motivated professional to lead and direct Water projects in our West Geography, and be a pivotal member of our community of 500 engineers, consultants, and experts. This role can be based in San Francisco, Oakland or Los Angeles. You will have a leadership position within our growing and highly motivated water team that currently works with the SFPUC, San Francisco airport (SFO), City of Oakland, City of Rialto, Silicon Valley Clean Water, the Presidio Trust and several science and technology clients. We work on a diverse range of projects from master plans, risk and resilience studies, design of water, stormwater, wastewater and recycled water facilities and conveyance, including tunnels.

The Role

Collaborating with the Water Business Leader, you will be a key member within the Civil/Water disciplinary team. Your experience and expertise will be integral in ensuring successful project outcomes, continued growth, and upskilling of technical and digital skills of our water team. The position requires a self-motivated, proactive, innovative and collaborative individual who strives to deliver solutions of the highest quality and exhibits an excellent attention to detail: your actions should encourage confidence in clients, partners and the team alike.

Responsibilities of this specific role will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Leading and coordinating multi-disciplinary projects including planning and design
  • Development of quality work including reports and construction documents
  • Commercial management of projects for successful outcomes
  • Leading and mentoring individuals in the team, including senior engineers and project managers
  • Fostering a broad view to integrated design and sustainable development of water infrastructure
  • Working optimally with Arup’s global and regional Water Skills networks
  • Encouraging an atmosphere of research, innovation and development of digital workflows and offerings
  • Proactively managing and growing relationships with clients and collaborators
  • Assisting in developing bids and proposals for public and private sector clients
  • Representing Arup in the water industry at conferences and technical forums, local and regional events

Qualifications

  • Advanced Engineering degree, Master’s in Civil/Environmental Engineering
  • Licensed professional engineer in California (WA, OR, NV a plus)
  • 15 years’proven experience, with 8+ years as a project manager or team leader
  • Significant experience with public and/or private water utility clients in California
  • Understanding and knowledge of the local water market and regulations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Active professional organization involvement (WEF, AWWA, or similar)

Hiring Range: The good faith base salary hiring range for this job performed in California is $165,000 and $237,000. Benefits are not included in the base salary range. Summary of benefits are included in this posting with details provided to applicants at the time of interview. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of California will differ.
