Job Summary:

Living Lakes Canada is seeking an Environmental Program Coordinator (Lakes Program Assistant). We are seeking an individual with experience in the environmental non-profit sector, volunteer organization, and community outreach and education. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. The program coordinator will work independently via remote work space, collaborating with the Living Lakes Canada team, the Lakes Program team, and external partners on a regular basis. The program assistant will offer up creative, innovative ideas to help deliver the program in an engaging and effective way.

The Environmental Program Coordinator (Lakes Program Assistant) will support the following programs:

Living Lakes Canada is growing our capacity to provide lake monitoring resources, tools and training, to nation-wide partners and collaborators.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Lakes Program Manager, the responsibilities of the Environmental Program Coordinator (Lakes Program Assistant) include but are not limited to:

Monitoring Support, Data Management and Research: 

  • Data entry, data management
  • Provide training and support to water monitoring groups and volunteers
  • Conduct scientific research around topics such as Species at Risk, government acts and policies, Indigenous rights 

Community Outreach and Education:

  • Foster existing relationships with volunteers and maintain consistent communication
  • Provide logistical and technical support to volunteers involved in citizen science programs
  • Assist in the development of educational material, workshops and webinars;
  • Travel within BC

Communications: 

  • Develop communications package to share with partners and supporters
  • Maintain current information on program delivery and website updates
  • Plan for and coordinate the development of social media content for multiple platforms – Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Twitter
  • Assist with program resource and promotional material development
  • Support development of video content for promotional and educational purposes

  • Water monitoring field work experience
  • Teaching experience
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work
  • Knowledge and experience working with Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, DocuSign preferred
  • Typing skills
  • Attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing and feels confident communicating with various professional fields
  • Adaptable, capable of handling a large amount of information and data

Qualifications:

  • An undergraduate or Master’s degree in a related field
  • 1-2 years experience working in environmental monitoring and/or program delivery
  • 1-2 years experience working with community outreach and engagement with various demographics and perspectives
  • Reliable, self-motivated and independent with a demonstrated ability to collaborate well within a team
  • Demonstrated ability to support multiple projects, set priorities, meet deadlines and support others to do the same
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
