It is the role and responsibility of the Policy Coordinator to attend and participate in meetings, webinars, and presentations on relevant topics at the federal, state, and local levels. The Policy Coordinator will create/draft necessary documents, including emails, reports, briefs, infographics, letters of support, and other materials as needed for various TWC projects. The Policy Coordinator will report weekly to the Policy Director on findings, action items, and next steps related to TWC’s work. The Policy Coordinator will also support the Executive Director and other staff members in planning and executing events and initiatives as needed.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate meetings, agendas, written documents, action items, and membership outreach for the People’s Water Project.
  • Coordinate meetings, agendas, written documents, action items, and membership outreach for the Regional Southern Water Call.
  • Attend coalition meetings, take ample notes, participate in discussions, and report weekly to the Policy Director on actions and next steps. This may include but is not limited to:
    • Letters of Support
    • Sign-Ons
    • Memorandums
    • Task Forces
    • Presentations
  • Attend relevant meetings, webinars, and other informational sessions regarding federal, state, and local initiatives. Including but not limited to:
    • EPA, HHS
    • LDH, LDEQ
    • City Council, DPW, SWBNO
  • Policy Research: Research federal, state, and local policies related to TWC’s work. Report weekly to the Policy Director on new and updated bills, laws, and resolutions related to TWC’s work.
  • Policy Newsletter: Create and disseminate materials related to policy initiatives as needed (weekly, biweekly, or monthly). This may include but is not limited to:
    • Writing briefs, letters of support, and memorandums
    • Writing Calls-to-Action
    • Sharing TWC Policy Initiative Updates
  • Other Policy Initiatives: Keep up-to-date and report weekly to the Policy Director on:
    • Funding opportunities at the federal, state, and local levels.
    • Lead Service Line Replacement initiatives at the federal, state, and local levels.
    • Green Infrastructure initiatives at the federal, state, and local levels.
    • Emerging Contaminant initiatives at the federal, state, and local levels.
