PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The hiring rate for this position is $19

This position earns sick leave in accordance with the Healthy Families and Workplace Act.

This is a Seasonal position that does NOT receive benefits.

**This position is expected to be in service Mid-May through Mid-October **

OVERVIEW OF POSITION / DEPARTMENT

The Water Conservation Program Specialist – Rebates and Drought position requires an enthusiastic self-starter who enjoys engaging with customers daily. This position offers a seasonal mix of primarily office work with some field work duties, focusing on educating customers on our drought information and various rebate programs. Working primarily with the public, candidates for this position must have excellent communication and customer service skills.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Assisting the Conservation Rebates Program Manager with administrative duties
Communicate with customers via phone and email regarding rebate processes
Attend water conservation outreach events
May be required to work up to two Saturdays per month
Perform landscape rebate inspections
Assist with large property toilet rebate inspections
Respond to customer inquiries pertaining to drought restrictions, rebate programs and other general water conservation information
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

Education:

High School diploma or GED
Experience:

At least 2 years of experience in customer service
Preferred Qualifications:

A general knowledge of water conservation principles
A general knowledge of water-wise landscape principles
Knowledge:

Knowledge of conflict management and communication strategies for interacting with the public
Skills:

Must exhibit strong customer service skills, interpersonal communications and collaboration skills
Must be proficient at Microsoft Office Suite
Must be proficient at time management and planning for task efficiency
Abilities:

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and customers
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Ability to stay self-motivated and on-task
Ability to maintain a positive attitude when interacting with customers in a variety of situations
Licenses and Certifications Required:

Driver’s license with a good driving history
Essential Personnel:

When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the City, all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel.
Physical Demands:

Light work that involves moving no more than 20 pounds at a time
Frequent walking and standing as well as activities requiring a full range of body movement including bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling
Hand-eye and hand-foot coordination for driving a vehicle
Vision to read manuals
Speech and hearing to communicate with employees and citizens
Work Environment:

A mix of indoor and outdoor work in all weather conditions with potential exposure to noise, dust and fumes
