Compensation range:  $103,040 to $154,560 for candidates in Lake Forest, CA.  West Yost uses geographic salary differentials that would apply for candidates in other regions.

SENIOR HYDROGEOLOGIST

The Position (location is open to both Northern and Southern California)

Our Groundwater Team is unmatched in its ability to design and implement holistic, sustainable groundwater management solutions that fuse the needs of clients, the environment, and surrounding communities. We are seeking a Senior Hydrogeologist to join our growing team of solution-focused scientists, geologists, and environmental engineers.

The Senior Hydrogeologist will have the desire to drive our capabilities to new heights by working directly with clients and team members to grow our practice. This leader has strong experience in capturing and delivering projects, developing, and nurturing client relationships, and mentoring emerging professionals. This position will provide valuable support to the Groundwater Business Sector Leader and provide opportunities to collaborate on projects and programs to advance the GW team.

  • Is experienced in the development of detailed technical scopes of work to answer complex hydrogeologic questions.
  • Values the importance of training our next generation of technical and industry leaders and has served in mentorship or other leadership roles.
  • Has technical expertise in some or all of the following areas:
    • Groundwater management planning, including SGMA compliance.
    • Land subsidence management.
    • Design, implementation, and interpretation of geophysical surveys.
    • Development and implementation of field groundwater monitoring programs.
    • Groundwater field monitoring methods (to be able to train emerging professionals, design training programs).
    • Well drilling and rehabilitation.
    • Development of hydrogeologic conceptual models for groundwater modeling.
    • Regulatory compliance.
  • Is a proven project manager on multiple large projects simultaneously.
  • Is experienced with client management and business development.
  • Is engaged in professional organizations and other activities.

Required Qualifications

  • PG and CHG licenses in California required (Will consider candidates that are qualified, prepared and plan to take the CHG test on the next available date.)
  • Bachelor’s in Geology or related field, Master’s degree preferred
  • 12 years + experience in groundwater resources
  • Knowledge of and experience with Water Quality
  • Substantial water resources project experience in CA
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills
