Project Coordinator

We are looking for a motivated self starter to help run our citizen science water quality monitoring programs and to assist on other projects including, but not limited to, trash reduction, microplastics monitoring, green infrastructure, community outreach, river toxins, and social media communications. A per centage of time will be spent in the field throughout the summer months (May-September) supporting monitoring programs and volunteers at various monitoring sites across the watershed. Project Coordinator responsibilities include working closely with our Project Manager to prepare action plans. You will perform various coordinating tasks, administrative duties, like maintaining project documentation and handling financial queries. To succeed in this role, you should have excellent time management, interpersonal and communication skills.

Duties are as follows:

– Correspond with funders, partners, and the public about program updates

– Write both formal and public facing reports on programs

– Communicate monitoring results on platforms like social media, Swim Guide, Water
Reporter

– Coordinate monitoring volunteers weekly during spring/summer

– Organize and manage day to day monitoring in the summer

– Support grant writing and fundraising efforts

– Assist staff colleagues with project coordination

Qualifications:

– Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, biology, chemistry, or another science field

– Understanding of water quality parameters like bacteria, turbidity, and pH

– Communications and professional writing experience

– Excellent communication, presentation, writing and interpersonal skills; ability to set goals, strategies, and plans with measurable objectives

– An energetic self-starter and quick learner with the ability to work in teams and individually

– Possess a commitment for environmental protection and the environment

– Love of Rivers and willingness to take community groups out on our boat to introduce them to the Anacostia

Preferred:

– Previous experience with environmental nonprofits
– Experience in scientific data communication

– Knowledgeable of environmental laws and regulations pertaining to water quality

– Experience coordinating large groups of people

– Regular access to car during summer months (May-September)

Compensation

– Salary is $55,000-$60,000 yearly,commensurate with experience

– Health plan and matching 401k benefits

– Liberal time off.

Pay: $60,000.00 per year
