Maximum salary: 60816

Salary: $2,222 – $2,534 semi-monthly *Salary may be based of education and/or experience

Job Location: This position is with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of Environmental Quality, Water Protection Program, and will be located at 1101 Riverside Drive, Jefferson City, Mo 65101

Help protect Missouri streams and lakes using advanced water quality models! This position will address complex issues by developing water quality improvement plans called total maximum daily loads (TMDLs), which set the math and the path for water quality restoration. This work can have a tangible impact on improving the health of aquatic ecosystems, protecting public health, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.

What you’ll do:

  • Research and use advance water quality models, or innovative tools to develop TMDLs or other alternative restoration approaches.
  • Engage the public and provide presentations regarding TMDLs and modeling.
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to TMDL team members on new modeling approaches.

All you need for success:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or technology, biology, ecology, natural resource management, or a closely related field, and 4-6 years of relevant experience (Additional education or experience may substitute for the required education or experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to learn and use new software and tools, such as GIS and modeling software.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, and a willingness to share new ideas.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to interpret and utilize available data.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning
