Position SummaryThis recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (approximately 10 hours per week) Temporary Education Project Assistant position, for the College of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences at Oregon State University (OSU).This position with the Transboundary Freshwater Diplomacy Database (TFDD) will help with ongoing research relating to transboundary water governance. This position will specifically assist with updating the events database and updating the collection of water-related events. This position is part of the broader, multi-year TFDD update.
Position Duties100% – International Events DatabaseAssist in the collection of water-related events that have taken place between two or more countries or a country and a non-state actor. Collect information about events from media sources in the LexisNexis database. Locate data about water-related events and determine if the event is relevant for inclusion in the database. Additional duties include database management and interpreting information about transboundary water events and policies.
Minimum QualificationsEducation, training, or experience sufficient to perform the duties required by the specific research, extension, or other educational project; AND Knowledge of spoken and written English sufficient to obtain, provide, or exchange information. Some positions may require skill in typing (proficiency level based on individual position requirements).
Additional Required QualificationsSkill in data entry and proficiency with using Microsoft Excel.
Preferred (Special) QualificationsExperience with LexisNexis.Familiarity with issues in international water law and/or policy.Demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
Working Conditions / Work ScheduleAll work can be performed from the employee’s home office. No work outside of standard working hours is expected.
