Strategic Communications Planner
Permanent, Full time
Salary: £50,900 – £61,000 depending on experience
Location: We offer flexible working but ideally at least 2 days in WaterAid Offices, 20 Canada Square, Canary Wharf, London, E14 5NN
WaterAid is located at Canary Wharf, London and this will be your location and contract base. In order to apply for this post, you must be able to demonstrate your eligibility to work in the UK.

About the Team:
The WaterAid within the newly formed Communication Department – which in turn sits within the Communications and Fundraising Directorate.

About the Role:
At WaterAid we believe that impactful communications are a vital tool in influencing change and engaging new and existing supporters. In this role you will work with colleagues across Comms, Fundraising and Policy & Campaigns to align and integrate our work to drive greater impact towards our vision of a world where everyone has safe and sustainable water, sanitation and hygiene closer to fruition.

Whilst sitting within the Communications Department you will gain a holistic view of WaterAid’s priorities and activities; leading on and coordinating high profile cross- organisational activities which deliver to our strategic communications objectives. Within the role you will ensure we are using existing tools for planning as well as developing and embedding new approaches where needed – using these alongside organisational and audience insight to ensure a consistent, insight driven, data informed and cross-organisational approach to planning, You will also work with colleagues to create and shape audience strategies which drive our decision making across Communications and Fundraising

In this role, you will
• Lead on and provide a clear vision for what strategic communications planning will look like for WaterAid and what it might allow us to explore and achieve

You’ll also:
* Build excellent relationships with colleagues across WaterAid, specifically within Communications and
Fundraising, and Policy and Campaigns
* Support teams in adopting an innovative outlook towards long term planning, challenging them
to identify alternative approaches for delivering WaterAid’s objectives
* Connect different parts of the organisation into planning and campaigns as required

About You:
To be successful, you’ll need:
* Substantial expertise in leading on the development and delivery of complex strategic
communications planning, for the purpose of advancing an organisation’s goals and objectives
* Substantial experience of and passion for developing, leading and delivering communications
strategies
* Strong experience using and developing strategic planning tools and methodologies
* Excellent project management experience at a high, strategic level
