Position Title
Post-Masters Researcher – Water Research and Analysis
The Opportunity
The WE2ST Center in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at the Colorado School of Mines is hiring a Post-Masters researcher to study chemical characterization of various waters treated during direct potable reuse and industrial reuse. The work includes developing and evaluating chemical methods from water and wastewater treated by pilot-scale reuse systems (e.g., https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2c2cpNAUf0). The successful candidate will work with Dr. James Rosenblum at Colorado School of Mines WE2ST Water Technology Hub, along with other faculty at the hub. The appointment is for one year, with potential renewal based on performance.
Responsibilities
Develop and perform research on waters and wastewaters using various chemical analysis toolsLearn to perform quantitative analysis of various contaminants using analytical tools, specifically  a Gas Chromatograph Mass SpectrometerSupport writing of reports for various water and wastewater related projectsCollaborate on the development and advancement of water reuse projects at Mines and in ColoradoPerforms other duties related to the water reuse treatment trailers and projects that support the Water Technology Hub
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:Masters in one or more specialized fields in environmental engineering, chemistry, environmental science, public health, environmental health (MPH/M.S.), toxicology, or a closely related field
Preferred Qualifications
Masters around June 1st, 2023, with research and laboratory experience preferably in chemical analysis (ICP, GCMS, IC, TOC, etc.)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to mentor undergraduate studentsIndependent researcherKnowledge of water and wastewater treatment (not necessary)Experience doing chemical analysis with various instruments (Agilent or SCIEX)

Pay Range
$50,000Mines takes into consideration a combination of candidate’s education, training and experience as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required in the role, work location, and external market and internal value when determining a salary level for potential new employees.
