Our water team in Arup works on a wide range of projects in Ireland and internationally.  Projects include flood relief schemes, network and treatment plant design and sustainable drainage design for a wide range of projects to support Arup in the delivery of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.  We have a wide breadth of skills and qualifications in our team and would be interested in hearing from candidates with a background in civil, structural, chemical or environmental engineering or those with environmental or science qualifications.

Your responsibilities:

A number of specialities and project types exist within the water and flooding team. The duties may change depending on the specific projects but may include:

  • Prepare technical designs, drawings, reports, correspondence, and other outputs in accordance with approved design standards and procedures in line with the delivery programme.
  • Ensure that relevant legislation, regulations, policies, strategies and technical guidance is interpreted, followed and communicated across the team with guidance from senior members of staff.
  • Implement the appropriate QA procedures for all deliverables and ensure compliance with H&S requirements.
  • Communicate effectively and in a team environment with a broad cross-section of individuals. This would typically include, but is not limited to; flooding team colleagues and project managers, other internal design disciplines, clients and contractors.

We seek the following qualifications, attributes, and skills:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor degree in a Process, Chemical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering discipline (equivalent to Level 8 in the Irish NFQ).
  • A Master’s degree within these fields would be beneficial but not essential.
  • A proven ability to work within a team environment, both internally among the greater Water team and externally within project teams and with stakeholders
  • Sound understanding of civil and structural components of flood risk, water and linear infrastructure
  • Knowledge of hydrological principles
  • Strong relevant digital skills including ArcGIS
  • Interest in water and wastewater treatment types
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and strong analytical skills
