I am seeking a doctoral-level graduate research assistant (RA) to conduct research in stakeholder engagement in water resources research.
Primary responsibility is to lead social science field research interviewing key stakeholders interested in hydrologic models in the Upper Mississippi River Basin, USA.

A Ph.D. in Natural Resources may be earned in either Water Resources or Human Dimensions of Natural Resources emphasis areas.

Research Assistantships include a full tuition wavier, a $2k monthly stipend, and health insurance. Research assistants work 20 hours per week on research while completing coursework. Students will have opportunities to design and conduct qualitative and quantitative research, write and present study results, and co-produce research and recommendations with the practitioners who will use the data. Teaching assistantships in Sustainability courses are available for developing RA’s teaching experience. RA will join the Sustainably Science Lab. https://www.sustainabilitysciencelab.org/
Qualifications
Must have:
• Experience conducting social science or policy research to address environmental problems (data collection, analysis, and writing)
• Ability to conduct interviews with diverse stakeholders
• Strong communication and writing skills
• Work well independently and as part of a team
• Degree(s) in either environmental or social sciences: Interest in interdisciplinary policy-relevant research
Preferred:
• A Master’s degree
• Degrees in both the environmental and social sciences
• Experience with survey and/or interview research and qualitative data analysis
• Experience working with community stakeholders and government agencies
• Familiarity with ecology, environmental science, or social theories
• A high level of organization, initiative, and the ability talk with anyone
• Passion for sustainability, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary research
