About us
The Department of Regional Development, Manufacturing and Water (DRMDW) drives growth for Queensland by managing sustainable water resources, leading innovation in manufacturing, and developing our regions. From our offices in Brisbane and a network of regional offices and manufacturing hubs, more than 580 DRDMW staff work to create a Queensland where communities, businesses and water resources are sustainable and resilient.
Your Opportunity
The Water planning and Science Team undertakes coordinated water planning and science activities to deliver water plans and associated instruments across North Queensland from Cape York to Birdsville to Gladstone. Water plans are developed to sustainably manage Queensland’s water resources by balancing the needs of water users and the environment. These plans determine th amount of water that is available and regulate its allocation and management in a plan area.
As well as considering the needs and perspectives of water users, impacts on the environment, economic and social considerations, and the cultural values of water to Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islanders are a key element of water plans. The team delivers an aquatic ecology science program that supports the planning work and works with a large range of water users, interested communities and technical specialists across Queensland to develop water plans. Flexible work location arrangements will be considered for this opportunity to facilitate an adaptive and agile workforce. For example: the successful candidate may work from a regional or Brisbane based location for all or part of the relieving period.
