- Level D Salary Range: $153,058 – $168,279 per annum / Level E Salary: $196,201 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)
About the Role
You will make a distinguished contribution to research in the field of water engineering, leading innovative and original inter-disciplinary research collaborations in sustainable water resources engineering, environmental hydraulics, and/or climate change impacts on water systems. You will attract competitive research grants and secure industry funding from your comprehensive industry connections, in order to produce research that is impactful and internationally recognised. You will supervise HDR students and contribute through your leadership to a positive culture of excellence, inclusivity and diversity.

Core Responsibilities
- Lead and conduct high quality research that attains national and international recognition, evidenced by citation and publication in high impact journals
- Lead high performing teams and collaborate with researchers from national and international universities
- Lead major national and international competitive funding initiatives
- Demonstrate high-level leadership in contributing to a culture of research excellence and collegiality
- Supervise postgraduate research students including PhD students, and successfully mentor staff across the Institute
Essential Skills and Experience
- A PhD qualification in a Water Engineering or a closely related field, and sustained levels of diversified research income from across national competitive grant schemes, government and industry sources
- Demonstrated academic leadership including the ability to create and lead a strong inter-disciplinary team
- Evidence of an ongoing and distinguished track record of high-quality publications consistent with leadership in either sustainable water resources engineering, environmental hydraulics and/or climate change impacts on water systems
- Established significant and productive research collaborations with national and international stakeholders
- Evidence of significant citation indices or equivalent esteem measures, as appropriate to the field of research
- Significant record as a principal supervisor of successful HDR student completions and the mentoring of more junior supervisory staff
