The CMCC Foundation is a scientific research center on climate change and its interactions with the environment, society, the world of business, and policymakers.

Our work aims to stimulate sustainable growth, protect the environment and develop strategies for adapting and mitigating climate change.

Our Division of Impacts on Agriculture, Forests and Ecosystem services (IAFES)is looking for a new position of a Post-Degree or Post Doc,responsible for the use of Earth Observation (EO) and geospatial data to assess land (vegetation, soil, water) status, dynamics and temporal changes, with the main purpose of further feeding empirical, physical and/or machine learning approaches for studying terrestrial ecosystems with particular focus on hydrological processes. The activities will also consist in collaboration on writing for peer-reviewed publications as well as in communication of findings through reporting and/or participation in conferences.

The position has been opened within the project “CN_00000022 National Research Centre for Agricultural Technologies (Agritech)”, CUP C83C22000500007.

The job location is CMCC in Viterbo or Lecce, with possibility of agreeing on remote working.

We are looking for a motivated person with the following requirements:

  • a M.Sc. Degree on Geographical, Natural, Forestry, Agricultural, Hydrological/Hydraulic Sciences or Engineering;
  • Knowledge of (geo)statistics and of geospatial/remote sensing data processing software and tools, including GIS;
  • Experience on the elaboration of EO data and derived products for studying processes related to status and changes in land cover, vegetation, soil and water properties;
  • skills on information technology-based tools and common programming languages (e.g. R, Python) to manage, process and combine huge amount of data;
  • an excellent knowledge of Italian language and very good knowledge of English language
  • good communication skills;
  • teamworking attitude.

The project promotes female and youth employment and the reduction of territorial gaps according to art. 47 “promotion of generational and gender equal opportunities for the awarding of public contracts for the implementation of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR)”, of the Italian Law Decree no. 77/2021 converted into law no. 108 of 29 July 2021.

Belonging to legally protected categories (ex L. 68/99) will constitute a preferential condition.

Some fiscal benefits could be applied for repatriated workers or foreign researchers/professors, having the requirements defined by Dlgs 147/2015 (for repatriates) or Dl 78/2010 (for foreigners).

We offer the opportunity to join our team through a temporary contract of n° 12 months starting from April or May 2023, with the possibility of contract extension or change/integration based on performance, results achieved, and new project opportunities.

Annual salary ranging is from 21 to 28K Euros,depending on qualification and experience.
