Position: Contractor, International Program Support (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene)

Project: Improving Health and Building Disaster Resilience through the Provision of Clean Water (Team Rubicon International Programs)

Contract Duration: January 2023 – December 2023

Duties:

Serve as the technical lead on all WASH activities, including providing subject matter expertise in support of WASH program design and planning, grant writing and execution of international programs and operations.
Support Team Rubicon’s International Programs and Operations teams grow their WASH capabilities and ability to target and adapt solutions to vulnerable populations pre- and post-disaster. Identify and capitalize on improvement opportunities, including but not limited to: (1) water treatment and distribution, (2) hygiene management and public hygiene training, and (3) waste management and public waste management training.
Work across functions and teams to review and refine WASH processes and procedures.
Assess and identify opportunities for improvement of WASH-related equipment and supplies as well as maintenance and testing procedures.
Support in recruitment and management of technical personnel as needed for project implementation.
Serve as the TR representative in Global WASH discussion groups and forums, supporting Team Rubicon’s efforts to provide demonstrable impact in WASH programming for Disaster Risk Reduction and Recovery Programming.
Provide in-person training on TR’s International WASH capability to volunteers and in vulnerable communities.
Ensure gender mainstreaming and protection is considered throughout all TR WASH activities.
Be available for reach-back support for deployed teams during international disasters and crises, should the need arise.
Experience and Background:

3+ years of technical experience implementing WASH programming in a developing country setting, preferably in the medical context
Preference given to applicants with degrees in WASH-related studies (Geology, Engineering, Public Health, etc.)
Demonstrated experience and knowledge of best practices for water supply, sanitation and hygiene promotion in emergency response and recovery programs required
Familiarity with current standards and guidelines for WASH in emergency response and recovery and where standards and best practices need to evolve; experience with USAID requirements preferred
Demonstrated knowledge and background in community mobilization and engagement
Experience in coordinating with and providing guidance on working with the WASH cluster mechanism
Experience in working with volunteer-based organizations a plus
Spanish proficiency and experience working in Latin America preferred
Requirements:

This position is remote but requires the ability to travel 2-3 times to Team Rubicon Headquarters in Los Angeles or internationally, for approximately one week per travel occurrence
Must be COVID-19 Vaccinated
Strong network with the global WASH sector highly preferred
