An exciting Water Officer opportunity (Groundwater Monitoring) is available to you in the South Region’s Water Monitoring team, located in Twmba.
In this exciting and uniquely varying role, you will provide the hydrometric data that is relied upon to inform decisions about the sustainable management of the State’s water resources. You will operate and maintain a network of sub-artesian and artesian groundwater monitoring assets. You will plan, and conducting extensive fieldwork, collect data, then analyse, process, and publish the data produced to Departmental specifications and quality standards.
You will demonstrate strong personal leadership and positivity, teamwork, collaboration, and technical aptitude. You will be provided training, mentoring and the support of your team. This position will require extensive overnight travel to remote locations across southern Qld.

Key Duties and Accountabilities
• Plan and prioritise all work to meet the requirements of the quality management system and the needs of the department and clients, including administrative functions to undertake field operations.
• Collect water data from direct measurement, sensors, data loggers, water samples and survey, according to quality management guidelines, safety requirements and departmental policies and procedures.
• Enter and validate information into groundwater and surface water (Hydstra) databases and provide outputs from these databases to clients.
• Plan, supervise and carry out monitoring, construction and maintenance activities related to the water monitoring installations and monitoring and sampling equipment.
• Communicate effectively with landholders, clients, departmental staff and leadership, providing information on water monitoring issues, in oral, written and electronic form.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of new procedures, innovative technologies and systems as departmental requirements change and new technology evolves.
• Report regularly to the data collection and water monitoring teams as required. Provide input for regional reporting and at regional and office meetings.
• Other duties as directed and required.
