The State Water Resource Control Board’s Division of Financial Assistance has two openings for Water Resource Control Engineers in the Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Fund Branch, Site Cleanup Subaccount Program. Specific duties include the following:

Under the close supervision of the Senior Water Resource Control Engineer or Senior Engineering Geologist in the Site Cleanup Subaccount Program, the incumbent is expected to manage grants and contracts and provide engineering consultation related to site investigation and remediation of contaminants (primarily chlorinated solvents) in soil and groundwater.

Develop conceptual site models for each site to perform technical evaluations of site investigations, vapor mitigation systems, bench-scale studies, pilot testing, remedial action plans, remedial designs, and operation and maintenance activities. Review technical documents including workplans, field investigation summary reports, feasibility studies, and remediation progress and system optimization reports, and provide technical input to regulators and consultants.

Facilitate communication and lead Joint Execution Team meetings with regulatory agencies and key stakeholders to discuss technical status of existing and proposed projects. Manage grants and contracts including scope, schedule, budget, and review of invoices.

Candidates must possess essential personal qualifications including integrity, initiative, dependability, good judgment, the ability to work cooperatively with others, and the ability to perform the assigned duties of the class.
