Job Title: Post Doctoral Scholar

Department: Arts and Sciences | Earth Sciences

The School of Earth Sciences within the College of Arts and Science seeks a Post Doctoral Scholar to perform independent research in groundwater modeling.    The Post Doctoral Scholar is expected to work collaboratively on quantifying the effects of sea level rise on saltwater intrusion and rising water tables in coastal aquifers.  Duties will include developing and analyzing groundwater models and datasets, presenting results at conferences/workshops, writing manuscripts to publish results in peer-reviewed journals, contributing to the research program, assisting with extramural funding proposals, mentoring students and supporting group activities through collaborative service work.

Qualifications

Doctoral Degree in hydrology, earth science, civil or environmental engineering or a closely related area required.  Demonstrated experience in MODFLOW or other groundwater modeling codes and a strong publication record for their career stage is required.  Knowledge of FloPy and coding in Python desired. 

The start date is flexible. The position is expected to last for 1.5 years with the opportunity for an additional year renewal.

The pay range for this job profile is $48,000 – $60,000 The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, the unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications.
