MINIMUM SALARY: 90,600

MAXIMUM SALARY: 99,108

Salary: $90,600 – $99,108 semi-monthly

*Salary may be commensurate of education and/or experience

Job Location: This position is with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of Environmental Quality, Water Protection Program, and will be located at 1101 Riverside Drive, Jefferson City, MO.

The successful candidate will administer a Program that performs a wide variety of activities that protect water quality and ensure safe drinking water for the people of Missouri. 

What you’ll do:

  • Oversee the operation of the Department’s Water Protection Program.
  • Act as Staff Director of the Missouri Clean Water Commission.
  • Directly supervise the Program’s Clean Water Branch Chief and Safe Drinking Water Branch Chief, the program’s Fiscal Management Section Chief, 2 Program Specialists, and the program’s Lead Administrative Support Professional, along with the associated workload, training and development.
  • Consult on and coordinate cross-division initiatives and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with other leaders, other field offices, program team members, and other divisions.
  • Develop future leaders by guiding the office’s recruiting, training, and mentoring efforts for new and existing team members.
  • Oversee the program’s budget, which includes multiple funding sources.
  • Successfully engage with stakeholders to further the activities of the program and the mission of the Department.

All you need for success:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with a science major, i.e. Environmental Science, Biology, etc., or at least 30 hours of science courses with a non-science major bachelor’s degree. (substitutions may be allowed)
  • 6 or more years of increasingly responsible and relevant environmental experience.
  • Experience supervising frontline team members as well as supervisors.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Team oriented.
  • Skilled at handling fast-paced environments, last-minute deadlines, changing priorities, and stressful situations.
  • A track record of meeting goals.
  • Strong networking and relationship-building skills, including negotiation and conflict management, and situational awareness.
  • Strong oral and written communication.
  • Well-equipped to engage and develop team members.
  • Training, certification, and/or education in continuous process improvement programs such as Lean Six Sigma as well as completion of Missouri Way, Leadership Institute/Leadership Academy, and similar programs is preferred.
