Multimedia Internship

Charles River Watershed Association seeks a Multimedia Intern to join its interdisciplinary staff for an exciting, fun-filled summer reporting on our work to restore a clean, climate-resilient Charles River watershed for future generations. 

Charles River Watershed Association produces photography, video, and writing to document our efforts to increase resilience, protect public health, and promote environmental equity as we confront a changing climate.

The Multimedia Intern will be expected to produce original visuals as well as work with material from the CRWA Archives to produce compelling stories in service of our conservation and advocacy efforts for a variety of platforms, including newsletters, web content, social media, and print materials to educate and inform diverse communities across the watershed.

About the Position

  • Work under the guidance of the Communications & Outreach Manager to pitch story ideas, create photographs, write blog posts, and craft social media posts to educate watershed residents about our work.
  • Organize, edit, scan, caption, and provide keywords for images to be added to the CRWA Archive.
  • Work independently and with CRWA staff on assignment in outdoor locations across the watershed, including on the water.
  • Take on other duties as applicable to the candidate’s skills or interests such as writing, video editing, GIS, graphic design, water quality monitoring, and more.

Desired Experience

  • Strong interest in the environment and conservation, particularly in watershed science and climate resilience.
  • Willingness to learn and work independently.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and willingness to be a team player.
  • Strong storytelling skills; whether in writing, visual storytelling, or editing
  • Proficiency in editing, captioning and toning digital photos using Adobe Lightroom or Photoshop.
  • Experience with DSLR/mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras.
  • Videography, non-linear editing, and graphic design skills are a plus.

Compensation:

This is a paid internship opportunity. Interns are compensated $15/hour for part-time work at Charles River Watershed Association.

CRWA’s internship positions are open to all individuals who are looking to kick-start their careers in water. Internships offer training in a variety of areas, including environmental science, climate resilience, advocacy, and education, and provide individuals an opportunity to be part of an exciting and dynamic team. Internship Details:

  • All internships are available to students earning academic credit or stipend from an educational program to participate.
  • CRWA currently offers two paid internship opportunities: Community Engagement Intern and Multimedia Intern.
  • In the event an applicant for an unpaid internship position does not receive expected funding from their original source, CRWA may be able to offer to fund, but it is not guaranteed.
  • All internships are generally part-time––schedules are flexible within normal business hours and we request that interns commit at least 16 hours per week toward their internship
  • Interns work directly with CRWA staff, volunteers, and community partners
