Job Summary

The incumbent will lead in the execution of activities in the WRAP Project.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assume full responsibility for and provide leadership to the consultant’s team for on-farm water management and agricultural support                                            
  • Provide technical support to field-based project/program managers in irrigation system designing, estimation, budgeting, implementation and O&M.
  • Ensure the selection of water courses for the WRAP is fully representative, terms of farming systems, canal water supply and groundwater condition and leads to cost-effective demonstrations with maximum impact on the farming community
  • Support and backstop IP and OFWMD in formation of Water Users Groups (WUG), capacity development and mobilization and act as real owners of the scheme.
  • Liaison and coordinate with service provider/WUG and vendors for timely delivery of materials and service
  • Develop strong relationship and liaison with green sector line agencies and district Government & Design and implement capacity development initiatives. Provide inputs in development of concept note, project documents, project briefs, reports, workplans, budgets and forecast related to project activities.
  • Oversee Planning, designing and implementation of WRAP project.
  • Developing linkages with Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and water management for implementation and future adoption of the project activities and supervision and monitoring of irrigation activities.
  • Design field level water management packages for use at the farm level and prepare extension type training materials relating to improved field channels and channel layout, land levelling and improved irrigation application methodology for the use of the irrigators

Work Week:                      5 days (Monday through Friday) – 40 hrs /week

Work Hours:                      0830 hrs to 1715 hrs (with 45 minutes lunch & prayer break)

Employment Contract:       Short Term (06 Months)

Selection Criteria

Education, Experience & Working Knowledge

  • A master’s degree or PhD in Water Resources/irrigation Engineering is preferable and would be scored higher
  • He/she should have at least a minimum of five years relevant experience in irrigation engineering or soil and water management or in managing on-farm water management and agricultural extension programs
  • Experience in water resource management projects is an important asset
  • Good at the application of MS Office

Skills and Attributes:

  • Excellent English reading, writing, and communication skills
  • Physically fit for traveling/trekking in rugged mountain areas
  • Familiarity with social, cultural, and geographical contexts
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and implementation of project intervention
  • Work experience with WWF-Pakistan would be a great asset
  • High level of good organisational and administrative skills with an ability to work well under pressure;
