Project description

GFA Consulting Group has an exciting job opportunity for experts to join a project that is currently in the tender stage. The Regional Water Company Pristina (RWCP) is embarking on a massive capital expenditure programme of up to EUR 200 million for wastewater infrastructure to improve the wastewater situation in the area it serves, together with the municipalities. This programme is aimed at promoting environmentally friendly, hygienically safe and sustainable wastewater and stormwater management, in line with the national wastewater and resource protection strategy, while also aligning with EU standards for sustainable urban development and climate adaptation. 
As a prequalified bidder and invited to submit a proposal for the consulting services for the “Climate Appropriate Urban Development: Sewage Prishtina (incl. Sewage I/II)” project, the GFA Consulting Group is looking for Mechanical and Structural Engineers. 

Job description

Mechanical Engineer: 

Overall, a mechanical engineer would be responsible to provide support and advice to PIU for designing, developing, and overseeing the installation of mechanical systems and components to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the wastewater treatment plant and sewerage network.

Job responsibilities:

  • Check the design and develop mechanical systems and components for the wastewater treatment plant and sewerage network 
  • Provide advice to the PIU on the solutions proposed in feasibility studies and supervise a cost-benefit analyses of different mechanical design options 
  • Critically check engineering drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for mechanical components 
  • Work closely with other engineers and project managers to ensure mechanical designs are integrated with other project components 
  • Oversee the installation and testing of mechanical systems and components 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues that arise during construction and operation 
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations 
  • Support to maintain accurate records and documentation of all mechanical design and construction activities 

Structural Engineer: 

Overall, a structural engineer would be responsible to provide support and advice to PIU for designing, developing, and overseeing the construction of structural systems and components to ensure the safe and efficient operation the wastewater treatment plant and sewerage network. 

Job responsibilities:

  • Provide critical look and advice PIU on design and development of structural systems and components for the wastewater treatment plant and sewerage network 
  • Provide advice to the PIU on the solutions proposed and cost-benefit analyses of different structural design options 
  • Critically check engineering drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for structural components 
  • Work closely with other engineers and project managers to ensure structural designs are integrated with other project components 
  • Provide support to PIU to oversee the construction and testing of structural systems and components 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve structural issues that arise during construction and operation 
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations 
  • Advice PIU which structural analyses are necessary to ensure the safety and integrity of the wastewater treatment plant and sewerage network. 

Qualifications

Mechanical Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree/Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field 
  • At least 8 years of international professional experience in the relevant fields 
  • Substantial input in the relevant field in at least 4 projects of similar nature 
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards, such as ASME, ASTM, and ANSI
  • Experience with design software, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or ProE 
  • Familiarity with project management principles and practices 
  • Local and regional experience & language skills would be an asset 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Structural Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree/ Master’s degree in civil or structural engineering or a related field
  • At least 8 years of international professional experience in the relevant fields 
  • Substantial input in the relevant field in at least 4 projects of similar nature 
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards, such as ACI, AISC, and ASCE 
  • Experience with structural design software, such as ETABS, SAP2000, or RISA 
  • Familiarity with project management principles and practices 
  • Local and regional experience & language skills would be an asset 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
