About the position

The Faculty of Science and Technology at the University of Life Sciences (NMBU) invites applications for a 20% position at the Associate Professor or Professor level in Water Treatment and Process Analytics. The position is fixed term and has a duration of four years.

The position will be within the Water and Environmental Technology group at the Department of Building and Environmental Technology. The candidate will be associated with the research group on Water Treatment and Process Analytics. The group has teaching responsibilities in water treatment related courses and contributes to water quality monitoring and water chemistry courses.

Main tasks

  • Contribute to teaching in water chemistry and water treatment technology courses
  • Supervision/co-supervision of MSc and PhD students
  • Participation in project development and implementation within the research group
  • Contribute to ongoing collaborative research and capacity building projects

Competence

Required Academic qualifications

  • PhD in water treatment technologies, water chemistry or other relevant subject.
  • Fluency in English language.  
  • Academic portfolio in teaching and research relevant to the thematic area
  • Documented educational competence at the level required for associate professor appointments at NMBU. If you do not meet the requirements, you will be obliged to meet the requirements within two years of appointment.

The following experiences and skills will be an advantage:

  • Proficiency in a Scandinavian language enabling the candidate to teach courses in Norwegian
  • Ability to initiate and obtain external funding, and implement research projects – preferably interdisciplinary involving technical, economic, and environmental aspects related to process engineering
  • Ability to strengthen research and innovation collaboration between the research groups and other Norwegian and international partners. Besides scientific expertise, we put emphasis on teaching experience, pedagogical and administrative expertise.

You need to:

  • Have good communication skills, ability to establish new contacts and develop networks
  • Have the ability to create a welcoming and productive working environment for colleagues and students

Remuneration and further information

The position will be 20% and is placed in state salary scale position code 8028 Associate Professor II, salary grade 68 – 76, NOK 636 700 – 756 900 or position code 8013 Professor II, salary grade 79 – 82, NOK 814 900 – 888 200, depending on qualifications.

A higher salary may be considered for particularly well-qualified applicants.

While a part of the wok can be conducted remotely, physical presence at the NMBU at least 4 times a year is anticipated to promote the group dynamics.

About The Faculty of Science and Technology

The Faculty of Science and Technology (REALTEK) develops research-based knowledge and educates civil engineers and lecturers needed to reach the UN’s sustainability goals. We have approximately 150 employees, 70 PhD students and soon 1500 students. The education and research at REALTEK cover a broad spectrum of disciplines.

This includes data science, mechanics and process engineering, robotics, construction and architecture, industrial economics, environmental physics and renewable energy, geomatics, water and environmental engineering, applied mathematics as well as secondary school teacher education in natural sciences and use of natural resources such as in agriculture, forestry and aquaculture.
