We distribute recycled soap and hygiene products from more than 8,000+ hotel and resort partners to children and families in countries with a high death rate due to acute respiratory infection (pneumonia) and diarrheal diseases (cholera) – which are two of the top killers of children under 5.  

Clean the World accomplishes its mission by collecting and recycling discarded soap and plastic amenity bottles from participating hospitality partners. Through the distribution of these and other donated hygiene products to impoverished people, help prevent millions of hygiene-related illnesses and deaths every year.

We are currently hiring for a Global Program Officer – Latin America & Caribbean

The Global Program Officer – Latin America & Caribbean (GPO-LATAC) reports to the Global WASH Manager (GWM), Clean the World Foundation (CTWF) for guidance and supervision. The GPO-LATAC will support and back-stop the full program cycle of projects in the LATAC region. This includes identification, assessments, project design and development, planning & budgeting, partnership and coalitions development, monitoring, evaluation and documentation of lessons learned from CTWF’s programs in the LATAC region. S/he provides technical guidance and management support to international team members throughout the programming processes, to facilitate the management, administration and achievement of the WASH-related outcome results in line with the CTWF Global Strategy (2022-2032) and Results Framework.

The GPO-LATAC will be responsible for taking CTWF’s Global Strategy and building regional and country strategies in collaboration with the countries in the LATAC region, turning them into multiyear activities, budgeting them and carrying them forward into implementation in collaboration with staff in the region/country.

CTWF is cognizant of climate change impacts and consequently will work in all natural disasters including slow onset disasters. CTWF will also be engaged with IDPs, refugees and complex emergencies. The GPO-LATAC will have an important role in supporting the Global Emergencies Officer in CTWF’s efforts to address natural disasters and complex emergencies in the LATAC region.

The GPO-LATAC will liaise with CTW Global on matters related to the intersectionality of programming in the

LATAC region, where both CTWF and CTW, Global have common and overlapping interests. The GPOLATAC will also liaise with the GWM, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and CTW Global teams to ensure that CSR efforts align with CTWF’s approaches and strategies.

This position is responsible for all project/program implementation in CTWF LATAC programs and any staff in those countries and will backstop all LATAC staff.

 Summary of Key Functions and Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for effective and thorough project implementations in countries throughout LATAC where CTWF is implementing projects. This is across the Project Management cycle, from identification to evaluation. Strong emphasis on Results-based Management and Adaptive Management.
  • Responsible for quality reporting and documentation for internal use and for donors and stakeholders.
  • Responsible for strong day to day financial, security and risk management
  • Provides backstopping to staff in country and troubleshoots day to day challenges
  • Responsible for determining compensation and benefits of country staff.
  • Works with GWM and staff in country to explore new opportunities (including funding) for programming and scaling up.
  • Creates content, for sharing with the Global Communications Officer so that it may be hosted on CTWF website and social media. This includes photos, videos and written content, making it available in country media to increase CTWF visibility.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in WASH (water, sanitation, & hygiene) or Global Health-related project management
  • Minimum of one year of deployment in a developing country is required.
  • Substantial knowledge of LATAC’s geography, cultures, politics, health, and environmental challenges
  • Experience developing, leading, and supporting the capacity of international teams
  • Previous experience working and living in LATAC is a plus
  • Fluency in English and Spanish x Haitian Creole language skills is a plus
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in international development, public health, environmental health, or relevant social sciences

Environmental and Physical Conditions:

An office environment with the option to work remotely. This position requires travel to the field several times per year and in conditions that may be disrupted.
