Mission and objectives
In collaboration with UNDP’s Accelerator Lab, and in an attempt to better understand the water sector in Algeria and prepare for a potential water-related innovation challenge, the The Acc Lab is looking to build a data base of existing solutions in the private, public or civil society sectors in Algeria that are addressing water related issues.
Context
The assignment falls within the efforts of the accelerator lab in Algeria to map the water sector and identify opportunities of work within the water sector.
Task description
We are seeking an Online Volunteer to support our data collection efforts for identifying innovative solutions related to water in Algeria. The task will involve working under the guidance of the Head of Solutions Mapping to define the objective of data collection and develop a methodology for data collection. The volunteer will also identify and screen data sources (news articles, social media posts, videos …etc) , collect data using the defined methodology and tools from selected sources, and prepare a short report capturing the findings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with the Head of Solutions Mapping to define the objective of data collection and develop a methodology for data collection.
- Develop or identify a methodology tool for data collection, if required, and propose an implementation plan.
- Identify and screen for data sources, including social media platforms, that could provide information on innovative solutions related to water in Algeria.
- Conduct data collection using defined methodology and tools from selected sources.
- Prepare a short report capturing the findings of the data collection effort.
Requirements:
- Excellent research and analytical skills.
- Experience in collecting and analyzing data from social media platforms.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively wteam members.
- Good communication skills.
- Interest in the topic of water innovation and its potential impact on Algeria.
- Advanced knowledge of French and Arabic

Requirements
Required experience
Candidates should have in-depth understanding of concept of data collection and experience in conducting qualitative/quantitative data collection from social media and other sources. A good Professional level of verbal and written French and Arabic is required, whereas English is highly recommended.
Previous work in the water sector or similar areas of expertise is highly recommended.
Knowledge of the Algerian context is an asset.
