The Ministry of Forests is responsible for the stewardship of provincial Crown land and ensures the sustainable management of forest, wildlife, water and other land-based resources. The Ministry manages these resources in a manner that embraces economic, environmental and social goals of government.

The Senior Regional Specialist, Water and Dike Safety functions as the senior water resource specialist in the region responsible for providing leadership, support, and technical expertise on a number of regional water issues including flood and drought response, dike safety, compliance with Water Sustainability Act and water planning initiatives.

Job Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Relevant post-secondary technical diploma or degree in a resource management field and a minimum of three (3) years of related experience in a water-related technical area; an equivalent combination of related education and experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge and experience in a number of disciplines relating to hydrology, hydraulics, dam and dikes, and flood protection, including engineering (civil, structural, geotechnical), risk assessment, relevant provincial statutes and emergency management.
