The Opportunity: Senior Principal- MEICA

We are seeking a senior technical leader to help create opportunities and deliver outstanding projects, primarily in the field of Mechanical, Electrical & ICA (MEICA) engineering.  We are looking for an individual who is a technical expert, passionate about people, the environment and providing an outstanding service to our clients.

You will be an active member of our Midlands Energy Water & Resources (EWR) Group Leadership Team, providing technical leadership to our MEICA portfolio.  You will lead collaborative teams on a wide variety of projects, with a strong pipeline of water company frameworks, data centres and energy advisory work. 

Playing a leading role in developing our longer-term strategy for MEICA services, linking this to the wider Arup and regional plans and will be empowered and have autonomy to develop and grow this side of our business. You will have the opportunity to make a difference – to Arup, to our staff and to the clients and communities we serve. With collaboration at its core our team works with major Energy clients, Water companies and flood risk management frameworks as well as numerous individual commissions.  Our multi-disciplinary engineers work closely together on a wide variety of water and energy projects across the UK and beyond. Is this role right for you?

We’re looking for a leader with curiosity, personal drive and technical know-how. You will be as inspired as we are by the problems we are solving and excited to help clients and lead teams delivering the solutions. Knowledge of best practice MEICA standards as well as team and client facing leadership skills are essential. In addition, we are looking for the following skills:

  • A demonstrable track record of successful delivery within a mechanical, electrical and / or control & instrumentation engineering role/environment including Control & Instrumentation systems
  • Knowledge of relevant design tools, techniques and related methods, e.g. IT systems, BIM, thermal/energy analysis, calculations packages, etc.
  • Experience of working from a wide variety of sectors in Utility Infrastructure such as Water, Electricity, Nuclear or Gas would be advantageous
  • Good knowledge of BS 7671 and related documents as well as CAD and Revit knowledge
  • Chartered status through IET, CIBSE, or other relevant body.
  • Degree qualified: likely Master’s Engineering Degree or equivalent experience.
