(RC&D) is an equal opportunity employer seeking a team of FIVE highly motivated, limited-term boat wash & watercraft inspectors for the summer of 2023. Primary goal is to prevent the spread of invasive species to and from Green Lake, and educate boaters about how they can make a difference. These positions are excellent resume-builders for future careers in natural resources or environmental law enforcement. They are also great opportunities for local lake lovers to help protect Big Green Lake while educating visitors.

Rate: $17.00 per hour, all positions. (Paid throughout the season at $15/hr, with $2/hr end-of-season bonus pay upon completion of the season.)

Employment Location: Big Green Lake, Green Lake County. Several boat landings will be the focus for watercraft inspections. The boat wash station is located at Dodge Memorial County Park boat landing.

Boat Wash/ Watercraft Inspection Positions: 5 staff will work both the boat wash station at Dodge Memorial Park and conduct watercraft inspections at a variety of boat landings @ 16-40 hrs/wk., for 16 wks.

Travel: Reliable transportation is required for these positions. Transportation to training and orientation locations, and daily transportation to and from the boat landing is not reimbursed.

Special Note: Hired staff will be required to work most weekends throughout the season, including part of holiday weekends (Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day).

Responsibilities: Boat wash staff will wash boats, trailers and equipment at Dodge Memorial Park in order to help prevent the spread of invasive species. Watercraft inspectors will inspect watercraft entering or leaving the lake and offering educational materials to boaters. Both positions will educate boaters about invasive species prevention methods. They will also collect data from their interactions.

Training: Boat wash staff will be trained how to safely operate the boat wash station. All staff will complete a Clean Boats Clean Waters (CBCW) training on proper watercraft inspection procedures following the DNR’s CBCW program protocols. Training is completed during paid time prior to actual boat landing work.

Knowledge and understanding of aquatic invasive species
