Summary of Duties

The primary responsibility will be to manage the daily operations of a biogeochemistry laboratory.

Duties will include: active participation in all experiments (design, sample collection, sample preparation, and sample analysis), preparation of data for presentation and publication (statistical analysis, graphing, writing), maintaining daily lab operations (ordering supplies, scheduling experiments, monitoring controlled substances, enforcing safety procedures), providing training to all laboratory personnel (high school students, undergraduates, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and visiting scholars), and supervising student researchers and other research assistants.

Required Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field of science or technology AND two years’ experience in a field applicable to the assignment, at least one year must include lead or supervisory experience. A Masters’ degree may be substituted for one year of required experience; OR equivalent education/experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Two (2) years of experience working in an ecology or biogeochemistry laboratory or equivalent education/experience.

Five (5) five years of experience as a research assistant working in a biogeochemistry laboratory.

Two (2) years of experience as a lab manager including ordering supplies and supervising others.

Authorship on a least two (2) peer-reviewed journal articles.

Proficiency using Excel, ArcMap, Sigmaplot, and Adobe Illustrator.
