Offer Description
The Department of Water, Atmosphere and Environment, Institute of Hydraulic Engineering and River Research is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate (Senior Scientist).
Extent of employment: 40 h/week
Duration of employment: 1st of March 2023 – permanent
Gross monthly salary and pay grade in terms of collective agreement for university staff (payable 14 times per year): B1 lit. b, € 4.351,90
Responsibilities:
- Research driven development of innovative measurement technology (for example tomoPIV, LDA, …) and measurement data acquisition (e.g. Arduino)
- Scientific supervision of measurement technology equipment (for example tomographic PIV etc.) and scientific infrastructure such as special hydraulic flumes
- Research and development of measuring technology for Danube water operation of the BOKU River Lab and clear water cycle
- Planning and Implementation of (large) scale experiments including scientific, experimental and measuring design
- Publication of the results in international journals and presentation at national/international conferences
Required skills and qualifications:
- Doctoral degree/PhD in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related university degrees
- Diploma degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or other equivalent university degree
- Language skills: German, English
- Excellent knowledge and experience in planning and implementing hydraulic scale models
- Advanced knowledge of PIV and LDV measurements
- Very good knowledge in measurement and test engineering
Desirable skills and qualifications:
- Experience in project management and in collaboration with workshops teams
- Very good English language skills
- Interest and enthusiasm to work in a team
- Strong desire for being at the cutting edge of science
