Contract duration: 2 years with option of renewal

Place of work: Jakarta, with travel to project locations

In Indonesia, Swisscontact is responding to a SECO tender, if successful, to implement the planned project “Safe Water Indonesia Switzerland Technical Assistance Project (SWISSTAP)”.

The Project contains three components, working on

1) Water Safety Plan development and implementation in five Indonesian water utilities

2) Development and introduction of a series of non-formal water safety specialization training modules and

3) Development and implementation of a Technical Assistance Fund to strengthen the regulatory framework in the water sector.

Main Requirements

  • Engineering degree or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of experience in the field of capacity development and technical assistance
  • At least 5 years of knowledge of and experience in the collaboration with public utilities, ideally in the water sector
  • Proven experience in collaboration with national and local authorities and the development / approval of national policies and regulations
  • Knowledge of Swiss approaches to corporate development for water utilities and vocational education.
  • Work experience in the Southeast Asian context and in Indonesia
  • Excellent coordination skills and political sensitivity

Complementary capabilities

  • Experience in the conceptualization, installation, operation and maintenance of drinking water infrastructure as well as corporate development approaches to strengthen public water utility performance.
  • Know-how of the relevant stakeholders and the current demand for skills in the water sector and strong network and trustworthy relationship with those institutions
  • Experience in facilitating discussions and policy dialogue
  • Knowledgeable about the Indonesian reform agenda in the water sector
  • Good knowledge of the local, and national decision-making processes concerning water services and related infrastructure investments
  • Fluency in English is required with knowledge of Bahasa being an advantage
