Bracewell Engineering, Inc. is looking for a Grade II Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to join our team, to perform and direct day-to-day operation of several small wastewater treatment plants. We are a contract operator company responsible for many small water and wastewater treatment facilities located throughout the San Benito, Monterey, Santa Clara, and San Mateo Counties.

JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision of the Chief Plant Operator, a Grade II Wastewater Treatment Plant operator is responsible for the efficient operation of the wastewater treatment plants designated to them. This person controls, operates, and maintains our wastewater treatment and pumping facilities’ machinery, equipment, structures, grounds, and performs related tasks as required. We are looking for an excellent communicator who possesses the ability to follow directions well and direct others, has great attention to detail, and values taking ownership over their tasks from start to finish. An ideal candidate for this position is an ethical, proactive individual with strong management skills.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
· Operates, maintains, and inspects the operational function of wastewater treatment and pumping facilities to achieve processing of wastewater and disposal of sludge and effluent to meet mandated discharge requirements.
· Monitors treatment processes and enters operating data accurately on paper and in electronic log sheets; ensures complete and accurate record keeping.
· Starts, operates, and controls plant processes and disinfection systems in a safe and orderly manner.
· Keeps machinery, equipment, structures, piping, work areas, grounds, and landscaping in clean and orderly condition.
· Performs preventive and routine maintenance, including but not limited to repair and overhaul of machinery and equipment.
· Takes lead of subordinate operators, assists training of new WWTPO personnel.
· Assists in the collection and processing of samples for laboratory analysis.
· Loads and unloads materials, supplies and equipment, and assists the storage and transfer of plant chemicals.
· Reports the need for repairs, maintenance and any unusual, inefficient, or dangerous operating conditions to do with the plant equipment, facilities, and grounds.
· Must be able to clearly communicate information about wastewater systems to staff, regulatory agencies, and the public.
· Drives and maintains a motor vehicle in accordance with Bracewell Engineering’s company vehicle policy; maintains cleanliness, maintenance, and repairs of work vehicle.
· Must be able to participate in 24-hour emergency on-call responsibilities (on rotation).

QUALIFICATIONS
· Possession of class C Driver’s License issued by the California Department of Motor Vehicles
· Highschool diploma
· At minimum, possess a Grade II Wastewater License issued by the California State Water Recourses Control Board.
· At minimum, 3 years of experience in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant (preferred)
· Water Treatment or Distribution certificate of any grade is a plus.
Knowledge of:
· Principles, practices, and procedures of wastewater treatment plant operations.
· Wastewater math.
· Methods, tools, and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of wastewater machinery and equipment.
· Basic mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic principles.
· Basic construction.
· Plumbing practices and how to interpret diagrams.
· Safe work practices.
· Safety rules and regulations.
· Safe chemical handling and control.
· Basic computer skills; familiarity with Microsoft programs desirable (Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams, etc.) is a plus.
Ability to:
· Physically, must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time, bend, twist, lift, push, and pull safely.
· Understand and carry out written and verbal instructions.
· Keep neat and accurate records with legible penmanship.
· Maintain effective working relations with others.
· Learn to recognize unusual, inefficient, or dangerous operating conditions.
· Read and interpret a variety of meters and gauges.
· Interpret standardized process control tests and adjust plant equipment accordingly.
· Available to work full time (Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm)
· Must be available to work occasional weekends and holidays, as well as participate in the 24-hour on-call rotation schedule.

COMPENSATION AND BENIFITS
· Starting pay of $45-$57 an hour ($95,000-$120,000 per year)
